Texas

  • Texas Practice Areas

Our Texas Practice areas include wage and hour claims and Wills and estate planning. Under the Federal Labor Standards Act, employers must pay employees the federal minimum wage and one and half times regular pay for any overtime. Employers often misclassify employees as salaried employees rather than hourly employees and are able to avoid paying employees for overtime. Likewise, employers may require employees to skip meal periods or rest periods or may otherwise improperly calculate hourly pay. Tej Law Firm, PLLC represents employees in Texas against their employers to ensure that they are paid properly.

  • Wills and Estate Planning in a Nutshell

Most people do not want to think about what will happen if they become incapacitated or pass away.  How will your family deal with your incapacity or death? Who will make decisions on your behalf? How will your assets be protected? Who is going to take care of your pets? All of these questions can be addressed by establishing a comprehensive estate plan.  We take the guesswork out of these issues so that you can be at ease knowing that your loved ones are protected.

Estate planning helps you ensure your wishes are upheld when you are no longer able to speak for yourself. An estate plan outlines how you want your assets to be distributed amongst your heirs in the case of injury or death. It can also allow you to state your wishes regarding your own medical treatment if you are to become incapacitated and unable to communicate your wishes in the future. Estate Planning includes the development of a Will. A Will, also known as a Last Will and Testament, is the basic building block of estate planning. A Will is a legal document that instructs how a persons’ assets will be distributed after death.

  • Why should you get a Will?

A properly drafted Will can accomplish all of the following depending on your specific needs:

    • Provide details on how to distribute your wealth, assets, or property
    • Allow you to make specific gifts to individuals
    • Name a Guardian for minor children or pets
    • Create a trust for your pets so that they are taken care of
    • Detail end-of-life arrangements

A will protects you and your family from the unknown. There is no greater grief than death, and dealing with the death of a loved family member while also trying to figure out how to handle end-of-life arrangements can be extremely stressful. By having a Will in place, you can limit the stress your family has to deal with upon your passing.

  • What services does Tej Law Firm offer?

We offer custom Wills for all residents throughout Texas and California. Each will package includes the following, depending on your individual needs:

    • Initial virtual meeting and complete evaluation of your estate (up to 2 hours)
    • Legal analysis of your Estate with specific recommendations
    • Custom Last Will and Testament
    • Declaration of Guardian (for children or adults)
    • Appointment for Disposition of Remains
    • HIPAA Authorization
    • Medical Power of Attorney
    • Statutory Durable Power of Attorney

Once the Will is completed, you may need to take extra steps to validate your Will. Specifically, you need two witnesses not named as beneficiaries to sign the Will in front of a notary. Once notarized, we can review the final product to ensure you and your family have a valid Will in place to protect your last wishes.

  • How much does it cost?

Our Basic Will Package, which includes everything listed above, costs $500.

We have a Family Will package, which includes two (2) separate custom wills for you and your partner. This package costs $850.

There are no additional or hidden fees! Our fees are transparent and fixed. Note, however, there may be an additional cost for the notarization.
